Our Classes

Toddlers

Our Toddler class consists of only 6 children and is full of love. Our educators understand that this may be the 1st time a child is away from loved ones and the emotions associated with this experience. Our teachers are exactly what every parent wants for their child’s first preschool teacher! Although it is an extremely fun classroom, the responsibility of early education is a main focus.

Research shows that children as young as toddlers thrive in a structured environment; routine is critical for success of each child. Each activity in this class, such as circle time, art, music, and playground time are planned and executed on a schedule.

Being that this class is a small one, the children receive one on one teaching moments throughout the day, along with the experience of being apart of a group!

Young 2’s

This class consists of a group of twelve 2 year old’s and two educators who possess the perfect balance of teaching styles. The child to teacher ratio is an important factor to consider when choosing a learning environment for your 2 year old, but equally important is the total group size. We have found that in our 25 year history that a group of 2 year old’s larger than 12 possesses an abundance of stimulation which hinders learning.

Each day in this class is highly structured for optimal learning. Routine and structure lend themselves to allow feelings of security for children, which then leads to learning. Although it may not sound like learning is occurring because the children are laughing, singing, dancing, talking and creating, but this is precisely how 2 year old’s learn best!

We begin to see the emergence of early literacy skills such as letter recognition and early math skills like matching, counting, and seriation skills. The strides made by each child from the beginning of the class year to the end is remarkable.

Older 2’s / Young 3’s

Expectations increase significantly in this class as our educators balance the mission of pushing the children to their potential, while recognizing their emotional needs as well.

In each of our classrooms, social and emotional development are our number one focus. Typically, three year old’s are testing and pushing the limits because that’s their job. Our staff at Alphabet Farms has been trained in Redirecting Children’s Behavior, a philosophy we believe is a respectful approach to discipline/teach children in many social situations.

Structure and routine are a priority to us in our environment. Developmentally, age 3 is the time to begin working on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, cooperative play, literacy, math and science.

In Florida, a child who is 5 years of age on or before September 1st is eligible to attend Kindergarten. Should a child miss the cut-off, for example: the child’s birthday is on September 2nd , that child may not attend Kindergarten until the following year.

This class is designed to accommodate that child and is the class that follows the Young 3’s class and is before our Pre-K class. It is specifically for children that miss the cut-off or for those who may be a bit more advanced developmentally.

Older 3’s / Young 4’s

This class is by far the most structured and “academic” class in our preschool, as we must be sure each child has achieved “school readiness.” Children are learning and exploring the necessary material for Kindergarten prep in exciting and unique ways.

Our curriculum is full of hands-on and sensory activities that are fun and engaging. We are focused on providing each child with knowledge including: literacy, math, social studies, science, technology, cognitive development, and gross & fine motor skills.

Each spring we hatch eggs in our school incubator. Through this activity, every curriculum area is explored by: reading about what is taking place, measuring, recording, and observing daily. They sing, paint, discuss, and predict anticipated outcomes within this science based activity.

Our approach to learning and developmental skills is unmatched.
